After years of playingwiththe 1 Second Everyday app and watching people do true video compilations with 365 seconds from their year, I was finally able to do my own video to look back on the year.
I’ll admit that this is still not a true 1 Second Everyday, as some of these seconds come from the same days, but my COVID spiraling that kept me at home also kept me very… stagnant for much of this year, and I would find myself with days having passed and not finding myself having done anything noteworthy. It was a creative challenge for me to try to find brief moments of beauty and interest in the more mundane parts of my life, but I think the result is a more calm meditation on the romanticization of the every day.
Key: (B) = book |(F) = film | (T) = television series (completed season) | (L) = live performance (theater, music, comedy, etc.) | (A) = album (music) | (G) = video game | (C) = stand-up comedy special | [R] = reread/rewatch
Logged during the month I completed the unit. For example, I log a full season of a TV show after watching the last episode of the season, whether I began the season that day or years earlier, I log a game or album when I complete the entire thing, etc.
Perhaps my longest-running blog post series aside from my resolutions, we finally arrive at my 2022 new movie releases round-up! Letterboxd says I watched a grand total of 72 films this year, including some not-feature-length things I logged. I log everything I watched on my 2022 Media Log but I really like my over a decade-long (!!) tradition of listing the new release feature films I watch every year on this blog. (Older movie round-ups live with my old blog in Davy Jones’s locker somewhere now.)
I still am amazed it took me until last year to do a year end review of the new television I watched, but it’s really a testament to how much I’ve regressed to my pre-Lenten TV fast state. Almost all of the TV I watched this year was new but it still feels like an awful lot, doesn’t it?
For a comprehensive look at every show I watched, not just those released this year, as well as all the other media I consumed this year, you can have a look at my 2022 Media Log.
But here are the new seasons of TV I watched this year, where the season finale was released this year:
Unfortunately, I didn’t hit my Goodreads challenge this year as the second half of the year really got away from me and I was stuck on a book I wasn’t enjoying very much. (Still struggling with that old resolution to just stop reading books that kill my momentum like that…) But I really enjoyed many of the books I read this year and found myself really excited about reading the first half of the year, so hopefully I can put down the books I don’t enjoy and make more room for the ones that I do in 2023.
