Another year in the books! 📚
Unfortunately, I didn’t hit my Goodreads challenge this year as the second half of the year really got away from me and I was stuck on a book I wasn’t enjoying very much. (Still struggling with that old resolution to just stop reading books that kill my momentum like that…) But I really enjoyed many of the books I read this year and found myself really excited about reading the first half of the year, so hopefully I can put down the books I don’t enjoy and make more room for the ones that I do in 2023.
Here are the books I read in 2022:

- Goodbye, Again: Essays, Reflections, and Illustrations
- The Battle of the Labyrinth
- The Last Olympian
- The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
- Poorly Drawn Lines: Good Ideas and Amazing Stories
- De-Coding the Technical Interview Process
- A Thousand Beginnings and Endings
- Iron Widow
- Scythe
- Thunderhead
- Baptism of Fire
- The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories
- The Anthropocene Reviewed
- The Toll
- I’m Glad My Mom Died
- Mixed Plate: Chronicles of an All-American Combo
What were your favorite reads in 2022? Mine were Paper Menagerie, Scythe, The Anthropocene Reviewed, and Goodbye, Again. I really enjoyed getting into the Scythe trilogy and finishing the Percy Jackson series too. (I finally get the hype decades later and can be excited about the new show that the author will be more involved with than the movies I was never interested enough to watch.)
What books do you recommend I read in 2023? I would like to read more female authors next year, and more BIPOC authors who aren’t Asian next year. I’ve gotten so many recommendations that it’s hard to know where to start sometimes, but I also need to get faster about putting down books I don’t enjoy because I really did slog through a couple this year. I’m also hoping to be able to pick up more sci-fi next year, maybe dive into more Ken Liu and/or tackle Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem series.
