Perhaps my longest-running blog post series aside from my resolutions, we finally arrive at my 2022 new movie releases round-up! Letterboxd says I watched a grand total of 72 films this year, including some not-feature-length things I logged. I log everything I watched on my 2022 Media Log but I really like my over a decade-long (!!) tradition of listing the new release feature films I watch every year on this blog. (Older movie round-ups live with my old blog in Davy Jones’s locker somewhere now.)

What movies did you love this past year? In 2022, I loved Everything Everywhere All At Once, RRR, and Sonic 2, with special mention to The Batman and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for keeping superhero movies fun for me to watch in a year when I am… pretty tired of them haha. Fire Island was also one of the best modern adaptations of Pride and Prejudice I’ve ever seen.
What movies are you excited for in 2022? Across the Spider-verse is the only thing I am 1000% excited for, I think the first movie is perhaps my favorite movie of all time?? And I think I actually am looking forward to Quantumania despite my MCU fatigue because Paul Rudd! and Jonathan Majors! but otherwise we’ll see. Pending COVID, I think I’ll be trying to do more movie theater visits in 2023 as well!
