Friday Favorites (8)

Has anyone else been struggling a bit this week? I’ve seen this sentiment on social media that this week in particular has been more difficult for a lot of people, whether in their work lives or their personal lives. Personally, I’ve been feeling it a lot at work, vacillating between period of virtually zero productivity and periods of highly rare focus but getting blocked by something or other.

I have been a big fan of Adam Ellis‘s work for years now (even during the scary time when he was sharing Dear David stories…) and, lately, it has satisfied my need for both silliness and introspection.

Alvin Zhou over at BuzzFeed Tasty made another chill and relaxing homecooking video, this time featuring all egg recipes! I was really hoping he would continue this after his last video featuring 3-ingredient recipes, so I was delighted to see this one pop up in my suggested videos!

First of all, one of my new favorite channels to watch has been Girlfriend Reviews, which felt like a missed calling for me, as someone who loves watching my significant other play games that I find too stressful to play myself. Lately, my husband has started playing Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt and I’ve been really enjoying watching him play! We watched the Witcher TV show back in January so there’s a bit of a jarring gap between the events of the show and the events of the 3rd game in the franchise, but I’m having a lot of fun! The game is several years old now but the quality is still apparent, and it’s extra fun for me to sit on the side and watch. It’s been a nice bit of bonding for the two of us, and we’re engaged with the game in different ways.

This is my favorite way to make pasta carbonara because I don’t risk scrambling the eggs in the sauce thanks to the off-heat method demonstrated in this video from Molly Baz at Bon Appetit. (Side note: Do any of you love watching BA videos? Because I definitely do!) I’m trying to get my husband back up to his pre-fever weight so rich pasta seems to be the right move.

Mmmm… I need to try to do things that aren’t watching videos? I will try to make more of an effort to save things I like that aren’t videos, I guess it’s easier for me to track down the videos in my weekly history!

What have you been enjoying this week?
